12-12-2009 Tottenham vs Wolves

Wolves will travel to White Hart Lane with little more only the smallest hope that they can pull off a surprise result against a tottenham team playing with flair and confidence.

Tottenham have had their strongest start to a campaign for years and are still riding high on the back of their 9-1 triumph against a poor Wigan team two weeks ago. Manager Harry Redknapp has done what he does best motivated his players to play without fear and with the belief that they can beat anybody. They currently lie in fourth place in the league just one place behind their neighbours and arch rivals Arsenal. With the likes of Jermaine Defoe, Peter Crouch and Robbie Keane all vying for places up front, and with the pacy and creative Aaron Lennon back in his berth on the right of midfield Tottenham will be looking to pile on the pressure from the start. Spurs do have problems at the back, with Ledley King and Jonathan Woodgate both ruled out but with several additions to the squad in the Summer, Tottenhams rearguard should be able to cope with Wolves limited armoury.

Wolverhampton Wanderers saw themselves snatch a victory at the weekend over relegation rivals Bolton, which meant they climbed to eighteenth in the table, but still sees them in the relegation zone. It s been tough going for Wolves this season and to many they have performed above expectations just to have risen above the foot of the table. a fairly decent back four and good organisation has been the backbone of their performances so far this term but their top scorer is veteran centre back Jody Craddock, with four goals, and this says a lot about their credentials going forward. It s hard to see Wolves troubling the Spurs defence, particularly with Ebanks Blake failing to find his shooting boots this season.

It s hard to see past a victory for Spurs for this one, and it might become a case of how many, rather than who wins.

Verdict: Home win Tottenham Hotspur
